Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Fencing

Product Questions

What sizes of fence panels do you offer?

We offer pressure-treated closeboard fence panels in heights of 2ft, 3ft, 4ft, 5ft, and 6ft. All panels are 6ft wide and made from high-quality timber for long-lasting durability.

What's the difference between intermediate, end, and corner posts?

Intermediate posts are slotted on both sides and used between fence panels. End posts are slotted on one side for the last panel in a run. Corner posts are slotted on two adjacent sides for 90-degree corners. We stock all types in heights from 5ft to 9ft.

Do I need gravel boards?

Yes! Gravel boards protect the bottom of your fence panels from ground moisture and rot, significantly extending the life of your fence. We offer both 6" and 12" concrete gravel boards.

What is the difference between recessed, smooth, and rock face gravel boards?

Recessed gravel boards have a decorative groove pattern, smooth boards have a flat finish, and rock face boards have a textured stone-like appearance. All provide the same protection - choose based on your aesthetic preference.

Installation Questions

How do I install fence panels into concrete posts?

Fence panels slide into the slots on concrete posts. First, install your posts using postcrete or concrete, ensuring they're level and at the correct spacing (typically 6ft apart). Then slide the panels into the slots from the top.

How much cement do I need per post?

Typically, 1 1/2 20kg bag of rapid set postmix cement is sufficient for one fence post. For larger posts or deeper holes, you may need 2 bags per post.

How deep should fence posts be?

As a general rule, fence posts should be buried at least 2ft deep, or one-third of the total post height. For a 6ft fence, use an 8ft post with 2ft underground.
